Using references from wildlife dioramas, public gardens and personal experience, Julia Marchand explores themes of nature, identity and the complicated relationship between humanity, flora and fauna. Her mixed media paintings and works on paper are collected by many high-profile clients including “Eat, Pray, Love” author Elizabeth Gilbert, and Peter and Susan Hort who purchased several originals for their grandchildren’s rooms. She exhibits regularly across the US and is open to commissions. Marchand lives in Alameda, CA where she is also an arts educator.
Eric Finzi builds up each painting in layers of epoxy resin using brushes, sticks, syringes, needles and a propane torch to control the chaos of his chosen medium. The resulting paintings radiate a feeling of mystery and depth from beneath their glassy, textured surfaces. Finzi typically tackles one or more subjects at a time, mining the pages of history and referencing his own experience to explore the human condition. Widely collected and written about, Finzi’s paintings and sculptures have been included in museum and gallery exhibitions worldwide, including a recent solo show at Museo dell’Ebraismo Italiano in Ferrara, Italy. He lives and works outside of Washington, DC.
Michael Malizia combines a variety of mediums - oil, acrylic, resin, encaustic, spray paint and fabric - to create his complex, soulful compositions. From a family of master silk dyers, he often dyes his own silks and incorporates them into his works. Other times, he repurposes existing materials relevant to the message of the piece. In addition to his personal works, Malizia founded and runs My Life Studio, a successful business that transforms keepsakes such as photos and children’s drawings into powerfully personal fine art. His work is included in private and corporate collections nationwide. Malizia is based in New Jersey.
Brad Woodfin’s oil paintings of carefully rendered creatures are a contemplative exploration of the animal world. With reverence for his subjects, and favoring expression and mood over academic documentation, his delicately painted subjects emerge from a mysterious deep black background. Woodfin’s work has been featured in solo and group shows across the US and Canada and is collected by a wide range of clients including animal rights activists, Academy Award winners and top 200 collectors. He has also created several small and large-scale commissions for restaurants and private collections. Woodfin lives and works in Montréal.
